In The Shadows (“we,” “us”) is a small, family-run business in Elizabeth, Colorado. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit intheshadows.store or buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We never sell your personal information.
What we collect
- When you place an order: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number and order details. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
- When you contact us: the name, email, phone number and message you submit through our contact form.
- When you browse: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and items in your cart. This is collected through cookies and similar tools.
How we use it
- To process, ship and follow up on your orders, including custom and personalized items
- To answer your questions and customization requests
- To send order confirmations and shipping updates
- To prevent fraud and spam, and to keep the site secure
- To understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the store, and only what they need:
- Payment processing: Stripe processes your payment securely.
- Shipping: USPS receives your name and address to deliver your order.
- Spam protection: our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Website hosting and tools: our site runs on WordPress and WooCommerce, and uses Jetpack for site statistics, security and image loading.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies to keep items in your cart, remember your login, protect against spam and measure site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work without them.
How long we keep it
We keep order information for as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes, generally 7 years. Contact form messages are sent to our email inbox and are not stored on our website.
Children
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Just contact us or email orders@intheshadows.store. We may need to keep some order records to meet legal requirements.
Security
Our site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and payments are handled by our payment processor. No website is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
